We are very proud to announce that our Owner Robert Pettyjohn is the first person in North Carolina to earn Certified Rug Specialist (CRS) a global certification in the rug cleaning and restoration industry. Only 74 individuals have received the Certified Rug Specialist (CRS) designation from the Association of Rug Care Specialists (ARCS). The CRS program is an advanced year-long process that covers cleaning chemistry, intensive structural analysis of more than 200 hand and machine-made rugs, and best-practice cleaning processes, as they relate to different types of rugs. The training culminated with a written and hands-on identification test. After passing both tests and presenting an exhaustive research project chronicling the role geography played in the history of rug production, Pettyjohn was presented the certification at the Association of Rug Care Specialists’ 2018 conference in Seattle.
Robert and Karen Pettyjohn are the owners of the Wake Forest, NC-based Rugwasher. They have been cleaning oriental rugs & carpets in the Wake Forest, Raleigh, and Greater Triangle area for the past 28+ years! During that time they have completed instructional courses in a variety of carpet cleaning areas. These include Oriental Rug Cleaning; Persian and other Carpet Cleaning, as well as Advanced Carpet Cleaning; Oriental Rug Repair; Upholstery Cleaning and Advanced Upholstery Cleaning; Odor Control; Smoke and Fire Restoration; Water Damage Restoration; Carpet Repair and Reinstallation; and Carpet Color Repair. These certifications have been achieved through attending classes and completing written exams. We focus on consumer education and have dedicated our company to providing the latest information so you, the consumer, can make an educated decision on choosing the right carpet cleaning company. Upon request, we can provide consumer information that will inform you about the differences in carpet cleaning methods and provide questions to ask a rug cleaner before inviting them into your home. This consumer information is provided in a booklet form and may be obtained by calling 919-371-5573 or emailing your request. Rugwasher is sought out by the major carpet manufacturers, Dupont, Solutia, Stainmaster, Beaulieu, and Monsanno, to provide service for their warranty customers. Providing service for the manufacturers requires expertise that most carpet cleaning companies cannot provide. Our cleaning process allows clients to maintain warranties on new carpet, and we are often recommended by name for such services.
